Why You Have to Be Ruthless About Letting Go

I’ve been pretty ruthless about letting go.

Furniture.  Homes. Husbands. Clothing.  Friendships.

No, I don’t rank them in any certain order of value because they all represent the same thing:

THE OLD ME.

She was lovely, that girl.

She really was.

She had the same heart as me.  The same sunny disposition (well, for the most part — don’t cross her, though.)  She dreamed big and valued working toward a goal.

But she was too afraid to reach much past her comfort zone.

In fact, she did everything she could to become a better slave to it.

Until one day she had had ENOUGH.

She was a black and white, all or nothing lady just like I still am.

Some people in my life can’t understand how I can let go so easily.

I don’t feel any need to validate my choices to them, but I share my reasoning here because I know someone out there is just waiting for permission to let. the fuck. go.

It’s not about physical space or relationship space.

It’s not about you not having room in your home or in your bed for something or someone else

It’s about emotional space.

You’ve gotta clear out the emotional hold you have on things and people before you can let in what’s meant for you.

Because I allowed myself to feel the fear of letting go and did it anyway, I’ve allowed in:

The perfect career for me

The perfect home for me

The perfect relationship for me

Joy

Fun

Love

Peace

Ease

Calm

Emotional control

Using fear and my emotions to my advantage

Financial stability and prosperity

Oh did I mention joy?

I know it feels like those items and people are holding onto you, but darling friend, it’s YOU who is holding onto their energy.

I’m giving you permission right now to let go.

It’s safe to let go.

It may seem scary AF.  Hell, it IS scary AF. But you’re safe.

I did not release people or memorable items with hatred or negativity in my heart.  Rather, I thanked them for their part in my journey and I released them with love.

Stop being afraid of letting go.  What’s waiting for you isn’t just the same — it’s something BETTER.  You have to make that a core belief, and you can do it. I did. And it’s been a miraculous shift in my experience.

You cannot receive what’s meant for you if your hands are too busy holding onto things that are no longer the same vibe as you (or the vibe you want) and people who have played out their welcome in your life.

Let go.

With love,

Melissa
