Perhaps you feel that your life is pretty damn good.
You’re killing it in your career. Or with parenting. Or with money. Or with your relationships. Or with health and wellness. But it seems like there’s never the AND that you’re looking for.
You’re not crazy. Or wrong.
You need to know that the work life balance is a goddamn myth and believing it exists and striving for it is curbing your ambition and keeping you from realizing your full desires and potential.
You’ve got it stuck in your head that you have to have everything perfectly balanced, don’t you?
But what does that even mean?
What does that really look like to you?
TO YOU.
To answer that you have to feel into it, because this isn’t about anyone else’s ideas of what’s right, Sister.
This is about you and YOUR life.
Your. Standards.
Your standards — the baseline of what you will accept in your life — is what determines every part of what you live.
If you’re feeling the angst of pieces of your life feeling out of whack, out of balance, your focus is askew. The myth has you wrapped tightly in its arms.
The way to beat this balance myth isn’t to just dismiss it. It’s not to declare it wrong and beat it down.
The perfectionist way of thinking is merely a habit and all you have to do is create a new one.
The way to utilize it this fear that you aren’t balancing everything just so is to see it as the wake up call that it is: that you need to revisit, create, hone kickass standards deliberately.
The first step is to look at what you’re currently living. Because those, my darling Lady, are your standards.
What have you let slide? What are you giving into? What do you need to say NO to?
Start there. Then, deliberately create your standards and align with them every.damn.day.
Very soon you’ll begin to feel the pull of your power as you strive for what ACTUALLY matters to you. Myth be damned.
