As a tenacious, driven woman you are seemingly programmed to traverse higher and higher levels. Some of these levels feel like the next logical step. Fantastic.
Other levels? The ones that are actually making more of an impact? They tend to come with a hefty dose of impostor syndrome.
Impostor syndrome is that lovely perception that screams in your face that you aren’t as competent or capable as you are portraying yourself to be, or as others believe you to be.
If you are not aware that it’s actually meant to be used to your advantage (yes, you read that right), it can wreak havoc and slow you down quite a bit.
Who has time for that? Not me. And definitely not you.
The real reason impostor syndrome shows up is because you are a high caliber woman. You show up in the world and operate at a pace that most people cannot fathom. Therefore, you make incredibly rapid transformations and shed old versions of you (outdated thoughts, beliefs, behaviors, actions) pretty ruthlessly.
It isn’t the change itself — it is the rapidness of it, that signals to impostor syndrome to come out and play.
From a psych perspective, this is your ego’s way of trying to preserve itself. You are, in essence, killing off the old personality and your ego doesn’t want to die. Understandably. But also, too bad.
You NEED this dynamic because as a high caliber woman, you crave the dance it provides. It alerts you that you are on the right track. It’s a powerful indicator that you are shedding worn out habits, beliefs, and connections. This is required for growth! AND it keeps things spicy. Let’s be completely honest here. You abhor boring.
So now that you know it’s a GOOD thing to experience impostor syndrome, I have three simple strategies to help you use it to your advantage. Click here to get them now.
With love,
