The Art of Balancing Career, Family, and Self

(The technique I used to grow my business by 64% in less than a year while living the rest of my life full out).

One of the main issues I see ambitious, passionate women facing is the fear of not being able to do it all and have it all at the same time.

I want you to know, dear Woman, not only is this possible, it is your right to experience this.

What will need to shift is your perspective.

First, please understand that there is no such thing as “balancing” career, family, and self.

The reason this is so is that it implies equality, or an even split of your effort, time, and energy.

Truth be told, that is not always what is best or for the highest good of all involved.

So let the imposition of the concept of balance drift right on out of your mind.

Secondly, it is essential that you realize and implement as best you can the notion that taking care of SELF first is required.

Oh, sure, we say the cute little “put your oxygen mask on first” phrases, but it is often lip service.  Rarely do I find women actually adhering to that.

I am giving you full permission, and in fact, downright near begging you, to

PUT

YOURSELF

FIRST.

It is when you do this that the “balance” you are seeking will finally click.

Before you can truly be attuned with what the areas of your life require, you must be attuned with what YOU require.

In order to implement this, here’s what to do:

1  DECIDE that you always have way more than enough time and energy for everything that is important to you.

Yes, it’s that simple.

There was a year that I would get up at 3 am to go the gym, drop my daughter off for school, work a full time job, work on (and complete) a grad certificate in applied behavior analysis, successfully grow my coaching practice each day (it grew by 64% that year!), work with my own coach, take care of my house, raise my kids, travel, date, etc.  And I never felt more alive, and did not for a second feel like any one area was missing out.

Because I decided — a big decision, and then little decisions every day — that I always had way more than enough time and energy for everything that was important to me.

Coming from that perspective allowed me to make in the moment decisions about where to place my energy so that it best suited the highest good for me and for those I love and serve.

It was from that perspective that I created my weekly and daily schedules, and it was also from that perspective when I would throw them out the window and do whatever intuitively felt right.

There is no second step.

DECIDE, then allow yourself the grace to plan (or not plan) your days accordingly.

You’ve already set the goals and benchmarks.  The solutions are already yours.  Decide to enjoy life flowing through you as you begin to realize the solutions, hit the benchmarks, and achieve the goals.

With love,

Melissa
