As a driven woman, you will likely encounter what feels like the fear of failure many times throughout your life, but not in the form most people experience it.
It’s sneaky, not blatant. It doesn’t usually jump out with thoughts like “What if I fail?!” or “I can’t do this!”
No, no. We don’t entertain those ruminations at all because we know damn well we’ve got this. We know there is always a way. We know that we can count on ourselves. We have proven that over and over again.
So instead, the fear of failure pokes and prods and eventually can be victorious … by making us settle.
We don’t give up — that’s not in our nature.
But we do, at times, go smaller. Trim a little off the endeavor because ooooh maybe that’s a bit too much. Maybe I am asking for more than I should right now. I can go for more later.
While some will say this is a worthiness issue, I disagree.
We inherently know we are worthy, and we prove it to ourselves time and time again when we act with confidence despite not knowing the outcome. The foundation of worth is set.
What this fear of failure does is cause us to shrink, not because we think we aren’t worthy, but because we think we cannot be, do, have it all IN THIS MOMENT.
That’s some hardcore lies straight from the devil.
In my own life and in my coaching practice, I intuitively know to use anything that seems like an obstacle as an opportunity. I know with every fibre of my being that everything is here to help us.
So in the instant that the little thought “I should lessen this” tries to make its way to the forefront, pause and say:
“NO. This is when I go bigger.”
And then, GO BIGGER.
Set a bigger standard.
Set a bigger goal.
Set a bigger benchmark.
And take decisive action as you would if those benchmarks, goals, and standards were already being experienced now. The faster you do, the faster you will train your brain right out of the so-called fear of failure, and use it to your advantage, and your expansion.
Which, truly, is what it is there for.
With love,
Melissa
